There are imitations of tungsten rings that use a cobalt tungsten mixture rather than the tungsten carbide. These rings may cost as much as the real thing, but are not as durable and can cause you to develop an itchy rash on your finger or hand.
Unlike most other rings, a local jeweler cannot size tungsten carbide rings. It is just impossible to rework the material. When you are ready to purchase, make sure that you take extra care in determining the proper size.
Tungsten Rings can only be removed by cracking them into pieces with standard vice grip–style locking pliers. Standard ring cutters will not work.
Tungsten rings and bracelets are heavy, and tungsten carbide is the hardest of all metals. It is polished to a perfect mirror finish using diamonds, and, unlike other metals, it will retain the exact polish finish for decades to come.
Tungsten carbide rings look like steel, relatively heavy, scratch-resistant and can be combined with other materials, like black or blue carbon fiber or precious metals like gold, to create a special look
Due to its inherently resistant qualities, tungsten requires minimal care. Rubbing with any clean cloth will bring out and restore the bright finish, as it was on the day you first received. Avoid cleaning with harsh chemical and do not clean in ultrasonic Cleaners.
Tungsten is about 10 times harder than 18K Gold, 5 times harder than tool steel, and 4 times harder than titanium
Just like Silver, Gold & Platinum, Tungsten Carbide is an Element #74 and can be found naturally. |
